We are delighted to start off our new season with plenty of returning singers plus a wonderful group of new singers! We have passed out binders of new music and some old favorites and are looking forward to learning lots about music performance, choral singing, as well as various composers. We hope to teach our singers more solfege, sight singing, and rhythms. These are out Kennebec Singers at their first rehearsal this fall!
Last call for any interested singers to audition for the 2016-17 year! September 7th, Wednesday will be our last audition date. Please email me or call for an appointment time. Wyc.email@example.com or 846-0705.
Thanks to all the families and to our new singers who auditioned this week. We know that not everyone had a chance to come and if you’d like to sing with us next year, we usually have one last night prior to the start on September 12th. Please email me with your name and grade fall 2016, and I’ll put you on our list for fall auditions. Often they happen on Wednesday after Labor Day, or if we have a date prior to that, I’ll be in touch with an appointment time. Leigh — WYC.firstname.lastname@example.org
We will be holding auditions for new singers on June 6th and 8th at Mast Landing School in Freeport. Singers in 3rd -12th grades for next year are encouraged to come audition and join us for 2016-2017. We do auditions in groups of six, and they take about 45-60 minutes. There is no preparation necessary. Our conductors will lead some warmups, teach the singers a simple song, and then listen for voice range and chat about musical experience up to now, all in a non-threatening atmosphere. Auditions are scheduled for 4 pm and 5 PM on each day, and we attempt to group the singers according to age. Please contact Leigh for an audition slot at email@example.com or call 846-0705 for more information.
WYC cordially invites the public to our 4th Annual Joint Concert with the University of Southern Maine Chamber Singers. They join us while on their spring tour, and we look forward to hosting them once again. Concert is at Sacred Heart Church, 326 Main Street in Yarmouth at 7 PM. Admission is by donation, $10 or more is suggested. Proceeds will benefit both USM and WYC Singers.
This concert features the Chamber Singers, and our two older groups — Kennebec and Wescustago Singers. Each group will perform individual songs, plus we will combine for some wonderful singing with all age groups.
If you have attended this concert in the past, you know that this is one of very favorite places to sing and one of our favorite concerts of the year. The acoustics in this church are amazing, and we strongly encourage you to experience it for yourself. Our profound thanks to Sacred Heart for allowing us to sing in this holy and sacred building.
USM Chamber Singers is directed by Nicolas Dosman.
We are looking forward to the first of our National Anthem appearances of this year. On Sunday, March 13th, we will kick off the game with the National Anthem with about thirty of our singers. We enjoy bringing our three groups together for these community events, and look forward to several more this season with various Portland sports teams.
Is donating all sales amounts for customers who say they are supporting Wescustago Youth Chorale on Feb 9, 2016. Visit the Brunswick store at 74 Maine Street anytime between 11 AM and 11 PM, and either show them our flier or just tell them you are supporting WYC. We thank them so much for supporting OUR organization and wish that we could sing there, but their store rules prohibit sharing our talents. Proceeds to replenish our empty scholarship funds.
