WYC invites you to our 19th Annual Winter Concert on Dec. 18th

Please join us for a delightful ninety minutes of sacred, secular and holiday music performed for you by the auditioned singers of the Wescustago Youth Chorale.  We have 75 singers in grades 3-12 from over twelve area towns who have been learning and practicing choral music since mid-September.  “A Wescustago Winter” will be performed on December 18, at 3 PM, at the Freeport Performing Arts Center, 30 Holbrook Street, Freeport.  A reception will follow.

Come hear our three choirs perform various pieces, including but not limited to “Deck the Halls” in 7/8 time, “Ring the Bells,” “Bright Morning Stars,” “This Train,” Ubi Caritas,” and perennial favorite, “The Argument.”  Several pieces are performed with the entire Chorale, which is a glorious sound.

Tickets will be sold at the door, starting at 2 PM.  $10 per adult and $5 for students and seniors 65+.  WYC Alumni are encouraged to return and are admitted free!    FMI, email Leigh at WYC.palmer@gmail.com00001

Sacred Music Benefit Concert — Nov. 20th

Please join us in supporting the Runge Family of Yarmouth by attending the “Sacred Music Benefit Concert” at Sacred Heart Church, 326 Main Street in Yarmouth on November 20th.  The Concert will start at 3 PM and last about 90 minutes.

Vox Nova, Sacred Heart Choir and the Wescustago Singers will be performing several pieces throughout the concert.  Jen Runge is or has been involved with all three organizations.

Nat Runge was hospitalized at MMC and at Mass General for over a month while being treated for complications arising from his autoimmune disease which roared out of control in mid-September.  Although Nat is back home recuperating now, and under the care of Maine doctors, bills continue to accrue and the family is working hard to get back to normal.

Donations will be gladly accepted at the door or you may contribute online at their GOFUND site (https://www.gofundme.com/2qq4sf7e).

Auditions for Fall 2016

Thanks to all the families and to our new singers who auditioned this week.  We know that not everyone had a chance to come and if you’d like to sing with us next year, we usually have one last night prior to the start on September 12th.  Please email me with your name and grade fall 2016, and I’ll put you on our list for fall auditions.  Often they happen on Wednesday after Labor Day, or if we have a date prior to that, I’ll be in touch with an appointment time.    Leigh  — WYC.palmer@gmail.com

Auditions for New Singers

We will be holding auditions for new singers on June 6th and 8th at Mast Landing School in Freeport.  Singers in 3rd -12th grades for next year are encouraged to come audition and join us for 2016-2017.  We do auditions in groups of six, and they take about 45-60 minutes.  There is no preparation necessary.  Our conductors will lead some warmups, teach the singers a simple song, and then listen for voice range and chat about musical experience up to now, all in a non-threatening atmosphere.  Auditions are scheduled for 4 pm and 5 PM on each day, and we attempt to group the singers according to age.  Please contact Leigh for an audition slot at wyc.palmer@gmail.com or call 846-0705 for more information.

4th Annual Joint USM Chamber Singers and WYC Concert

WYC cordially invites the public to our 4th Annual Joint Concert with the University of Southern Maine Chamber Singers.  They join us while on their spring tour, and we look forward to hosting them once again.  Concert is at Sacred Heart Church, 326 Main Street in Yarmouth at 7 PM.  Admission is by donation, $10 or more is suggested.  Proceeds will benefit both USM and WYC Singers.

This concert features the Chamber Singers, and our two older groups — Kennebec and Wescustago Singers.  Each group will perform individual songs, plus we will combine for some wonderful singing with all age groups.

If you have attended this concert in the past, you know that this is one of very favorite places to sing and one of our favorite concerts of the year.  The acoustics in this church are amazing, and we strongly encourage you to experience it for yourself.  Our profound thanks to Sacred Heart for allowing us to sing in this holy and sacred building.

USM Chamber Singers is directed by Nicolas Dosman.
