History

Ann Dillon founded The Wescustago Youth Chorale in 1998.  Ann had a vision for a community-based, non-sectarian youth choir that would not only strive for musical excellence, but also promote mutual respect and inclusivity.  For the past 15 years singers have helped Ann bring that dream to reality!  WYC began with one group of 24 voices in grades 6 – 12; we now have three groups of 90 voices in grades 3 – 12.

WYC has performed with Portland Symphony Orchestra in their production of Magic of Christmas, Maine State Ballet’s Nutcracker, York County Concert Association, Harlem School of the Arts in NYC, State House, several festivals and retirement centers, many Community Fundraisers such as Make a Wish, Lions Club, Maine Council for Child Abuse and Domestic Violence, area Churches and Community Tree Lightings.  WYC has also enjoyed collaborations with several other choral groups.  They have also sung the National Anthem at several venues, including at Fenway Park for the Boston Red Sox and at the Cumberland Center Civic for the Portland Pirates.
