Auditions for New Singers, June 3 & 5

WYC is now actively planning for our 2013-14 season. We anticipate that most of our singers will return to learn, sing and perform for another year, but we welcome additional singers at every level. Auditions will be held on June 3rd and 5th at Mast Landing School. We schedule six singers at a time, so please contact our General Manager, Leigh Palmer, Lpalmer3@maine.rr.com for an audition slot if you are interested or need more information about Wescustago Youth Chorale.

15th Annual Spring Concert — May 5th at 4:30 PM

WYC is pleased to present our 15th Annual Spring Concert featuring our 80+ auditioned singers from over ten area towns. From the full sound of the entire Chorale composed of 3rd through 12th graders to the sweet sounds of our introductory Harraseeket Singers, all pieces have been learned and polished by singers intent on achieving a level of excellence of performance. Our three dedicated conductors have chosen repertoire well, as our singers create delightful harmonies sung with carefully crafted dynamics. Sound comes from the stage, from the auditorium around you, indeed from the heavens. We will send four long-time seniors to our alumni ranks — Dan, Gwen, Jo and Naomi — after their final WYC concert. Two others — Grace and Liz — also class of ’14 have already joined the alums in December. As has been the tradition, the boys will perform a song, as will the girls (how can they sing those words SO fast?).

Tickets are available at the door. Please join us for a reception after the concert to congratulate our singers on what is shaping up to be a concert worthy of celebrating 15 years of WYC.

Elm City Girls Choir visits on March 23, 2013

We were excited to host Elm City Girls Choir from New Haven, CT at our Kennebec Singers spring Saturday rehearsal. We gathered in the morning to learn some songs, teach some songs, sing some of our respective repertoire, and shared a pizza lunch together. At the conclusion of our time together, we presented some of our songs in a casual setting to our parents and friends. It was a wonderful morning filled with new friends and song!

15th Annual Spaghetti Supper Serenade

5-6:30 PM sitting — Harraseeket Singers and Wescustago Singers

7-8:30 PM sitting — Kennebec Singers and Wescustago Singers

Come enjoy a homemade spaghetti dinner complete with meatballs, salad, bread and homemade pies, all while being serenaded by our talented singers! Some full group songs and some solos, duets and small group singing, along with some instrumental pieces. It’s a wonderful way to spend a Saturday evening in the heart of Freeport!

“A Wescustago Winter” — December 16, 2012

You are cordially invited to our 15th Annual “A Wescustago Winter” concert, which will take place on December 16, 2012 at 3 PM at the Freeport Performing Arts Center. The Concert will feature all three of our choirs performing seasonal music. A reception for the singers will follow. Tickets are available at the door $10 adult, and $5 for students. Doors will open about 2:40 PM. CDs and DVDs of the recorded concert may be ordered in the lobby or from melaniecrawford@gmail.com.

Wescustago Youth Chorale at Merrill Auditorium Tonight!

Tonight, December 4th, WYC will take the stage at the beginning of the second act to sing Christmas carols at Natalie MacMaster’s “Christmas in Cape Breton” show.  Natalie has a faithful following, as evidenced by the nearly sold-out Merrill Auditorium (orchestra and 1st balcony sold out)!  We’re excited and delighted to be part of this production!
