Wescustago Youth Chorale invites you to join us for our 16th Annual Winter Concert at 3 PM at Freeport’s Performing Arts Center on Holbrook Street in Freeport. Our 70 voice auditioned choirs will perform some holiday favorites as well as other delightful and beautiful winter songs. Tickets sold at the door: $10 adults, $5 students and seniors. Doors will open at 2:30 PM. Please join us for a reception following the concert.
We are about two months into our repertoire and our groups are sounding wonderful. The choruses are learning notes, solfege, harmonies, and how to listen to each other. Our high school group has met for a weekend retreat and a Saturday brunch which has promoted strong bonding within the group. We are lining up additional performances, in addition to our two annual concerts, which will be posted when dates are firm. Many thanks to Renee Williams, who has orchestrated our concert dress program with swaps, hemming and dress orders to help our female singers look their best. Also, a warm welcome to Sandy Foreman, who is assisting with our Harraseeket Singers while conductor Renovia Marro is home with baby Dexter.
Wescustago Singers will enjoy a potluck dinner with parents on Sunday, September 8th at 5 PM at Leigh Palmer’s house.
Kennebec Singers will have a singer/parent potluck on Monday, September 9th at Mast Landing School at 5:30. Rehearsal will follow and end at 7:30 PM.
Harraseeket Singers will start at 4:30 PM at Mast Landing School, have a social time on the playground with popsicles, and will finish rehearsal at 5:45 PM.
$238.35 was deposited into our bank account today. This was the amount donated by member families and their friends since July 2012 by taking returnables to CLYNK. We are most thankful for the ongoing support!
WYC is pleased to present our 15th Annual Spring Concert featuring our 80+ auditioned singers from over ten area towns. From the full sound of the entire Chorale composed of 3rd through 12th graders to the sweet sounds of our introductory Harraseeket Singers, all pieces have been learned and polished by singers intent on achieving a level of excellence of performance. Our three dedicated conductors have chosen repertoire well, as our singers create delightful harmonies sung with carefully crafted dynamics. Sound comes from the stage, from the auditorium around you, indeed from the heavens. We will send four long-time seniors to our alumni ranks — Dan, Gwen, Jo and Naomi — after their final WYC concert. Two others — Grace and Liz — also class of ’14 have already joined the alums in December. As has been the tradition, the boys will perform a song, as will the girls (how can they sing those words SO fast?).
Tickets are available at the door. Please join us for a reception after the concert to congratulate our singers on what is shaping up to be a concert worthy of celebrating 15 years of WYC.
